Atlanta and PRX

You know how I keep kvetching about not actually publishing any podcast audio yet..? Yeah. It's time to get over that. Well, to get closer, anyway.

I recently returned from the She Podcasts Live conference in Atlanta. I learned so much, met so many, had some fun, enjoyed the sun.

I was fortunate to have been chosen for the "Feedback is a Gift" session, with a panel of PRX (Public Radio Exchange) and other podcast professionals providing accolades and advice. I created my very first pitch deck (AKA PowerPoint, for my cronies) with a six-minute presentation and one minute audio sample.

Other than a few tech-glitches (of course), it went really great. My super cool new friend, Sarah Cox of Zero Percent Scared, took video of the whole thing. (Maybe someday I'll share it.)

Since then, I've been working with a couple of musical maestros to create my intro/outro music. I've got a vision (um, what's an audio vision called?) of what I want it to sound like, and I'm going to be my determined/stubborn German-Irish self to ensure I get it. It'll totally be worth it.

I've also been working with my former Team Fury teammate from the Windy City Rollers, Sharon Needles (AKA Jenn Barron of Sew & Tell), on the cushions and curtains in the Bambi. Actually, she's doing all the work, I get to participate in the fun part of choosing fabrics and trim. A couple adjustments are being made now, but here's a sneak peek at the palette and design.

I've set the date for my first big road trip, to meet a truly remarkable crone and her cronies, for the middle of May. But I've already got conversations with six super cool women "in the can" (that's podcastese for recorded and waiting somewhere in the cloud to be edited and posted back to the webiverse... I think).

In the meantime, I'm heading back to Costa Rica to spend more time with my mamacita and the spiders and lizards and monkeys - OH MY!

Follow along on Facebook. That seems to be the easiest way for me to check in on a regular basis. Apparently that makes me "extra" (if you believe my 17 year old).

OH! Did you notice the change from "The Crones Podcast" to "The Crones Project"? I think the message I'll be sharing is so much bigger than just a podcast.

You'll see... as soon as I build up the ovaries to post that PRX video.
